Untamed Re-watch: Episode 3
May. 7th, 2021 01:22 pmPart three! Full disclosure, this is not my favorite set of episodes, so maybe I won’t have as much to say.
Untamed Re-watch: Episode 1
May. 3rd, 2021 09:49 pmInstead of writing the posts I made this account to write I think I’m actually going to watch The Untamed again for like, the sixth time and do a sort of liveblog thingy. I’m having trouble dredging up the brainpower to do essay-format posts, but I can manage bullet points, I think. No telling how far through the show I’ll get, but it should be fun! Also, a close watch-through where I’m having to really focus on and analyze what’s happening (instead of half-paying attention while I’m on my phone) should help me refresh myself on what’s canon and what’s fanon, for cql specifically. It’s amazing how spending a long time in fandom can really muddle things around, especially with something like cql/mdzs where there are multiple fairly different source materials, and people aren’t always clear on which one(s) they’re drawing from. Not that that’s a bad thing! It can just make it hard for me to keep things straight.
For this liveblog-ish thing, I’m gonna be trying to mostly take cql on its own terms. Of course, it is an adaptation, so I can’t promise I won’t mention any adaptation choices that stand out to me, but for in-depth comparisons I’ll try to just make a separate post…if I ever get around to doing that.
I did have bullet points all through here but they disappeared and I don't know how to get them back.
Introduction
Apr. 19th, 2021 11:02 pmWhat I'm trying to get out of this site specifically: I want to use this as a space to sort of work out and clarify my (mostly fandom) thoughts, but I'm not interested in having anything I say interpreted as, like, a Hot Take. And I feel like on other sites I've tried, like Twitter and Tumblr, there's a definite danger of that happening. I'm really not trying to make definitive statements about the text, or write serious meta that gets circulated in fandom, or start discourse; I just want to ramble and hash things out, and if people want to engage with stuff I write, then great! And if not, also great!
As far as social interaction goes, I'm happy to talk to people, but I'm not very well-versed in internet norms, so apologies in advance for any awkwardness. I don't really know how much or how consistently I'm going to be on here, so if it ever takes me a while to respond to someone, that's probably why.
